StartRight+
StartRight+ is the University of Wyoming’s digital-first course material program, designed to give students equitable, affordable, and convenient access to all required course materials for a flat fee at the start of each semester. This program is how all UW students are able to access their textbooks.
All undergraduate and graduate students are automatically enrolled in StartRight+ each Fall and Spring semester, with the option to switch their program if this isn’t what is best for them. As students register for classes, they are signing up to be part of the StartRight+ program. This allows them to have instant access to their required, written materials by the first day of class for one convenient price:
Undergraduate students: $275 per semester.
Graduate students: $100 per semester.
StartRight+ is only available for the Fall and Spring semesters. If you are taking classes during Summer or J-Term, then you will be automatically enrolled in StartRight Choice, where you pay for what you are opted into. There will still be time during these semesters to change your program or opt-out of specific materials if needed, so pay attention to future deadlines.
We also recognize that course loads change from semester to semester, and that not every student wants to stay in StartRight+. While StartRight+ and the flat-rate fee iare the default for all undergraduate and graduate students, there are other options. StartRight Choice allows students to opt out of the default option and pay for their materials on a title-by-title basis. They can still have access to all digital materials and only pay for what they are still opted into. There is also the option to opt out entirely, in which a student will be opted out of the charges and all digital materials connected to them.
If you opt out of StartRight+ one semester, you do not remain opted out for the next semester. Your program status resets to the default each semester, so you always have automatic access to materials at the beginning of classes.

The University Store collaborates closely with faculty to ensure that all adopted course materials, digital or print, are available to students. Our textbook team works to provide the digital copy of materials first, making a majority of content accessible online. If a title is not available in digital format, we will provide a physical copy for students. This includes course packets, lab manuals, and other printed material.
Important Deadlines
Fall 2026 Access will begin approximately August 21st.
Deadline to switch your program is September 4th at 11:59 p.m. If no action is taken by the opt-out deadline, you will be charged the full flat-rate fee for the semester. All charges are final after the deadline.
Digital Materials
There is no need to purchase any of your digital content through our website or any other platform. Everything is available to you through your WyoCourses/Canvas. In your courseshells, there should be a link in the menu labeled “My Textbooks.” This will take you to your VitalSource Bookshelf where you can access all your digital material and switch your StartRight+ program if that is what’s best for you.
No pressure to buy or sign up for anything, you have immediate access to all your digital materials right in your bookshelf.
Print Materials
For materials that we were unable to find a digital copy of, we will offer a print version for you to come pick up. All print materials are located in the lower level of the University Store.
If you decide to stay opted into StartRight+, we just issue the materials out to you at the register. There’s no need for extra payment or hassle — you have already paid for the materials through the program.
If you switched your program to StartRight Choice, you can still pick up print materials at the University Store. You are able to stay opted into the print material itself on your VitalSource Bookshelf, which will let you pick up the materials easily and have them automatically billed to your student account. Or you can opt out of the material and pay for it at the register.
If you opted out of the program entirely, you are still able to purchase print materials at the register. Please note that we do not provide print copies of materials that are offered digitally. Students who are not currently located in Laramie can have their print materials shipped to them by filling out our Distance Learner Shipping form. When we receive these forms, we issue out the print materials to the identified W# and ship it as soon as possible. If we have any trouble or delays in filling your order, we will contact you via email or phone.
